Transport Department Building

Transport Department Building

The site for the construction of the building of the Vladivostok Transport Department is located inside the road junction and has two entrances connected by a through passage. Three-storey administrative building with an area of 1200 sq.m. designed between two roads and turned into a park created inside the road junction. The workshop developed two variants of the designed building.

First option

  • Space-planning solution
The basis of the solution is the division of the building into two functional zones:
A zone of the main departments of the department with its own light courtyard, and a monitoring zone with a management unit and a conference room.
The functional areas are interconnected by an atrium (inner courtyard covered with sloping stained-glass windows).
Concrete walls close the interior of the building from traffic noise.
An open parking lot for 12-15 cars has been designed on the site in front of the building.
  • Main materials used
In the external (facade) contour of the building, tinted concrete is used, which is resistant to the effects of a harmful environment, the color is gray heterogeneous.
Tinted glass is used for stained glass.

Second option

  • Space-planning solution
All workspaces face a U-shaped quiet courtyard. Illuminated galleries, as well as auxiliary premises, are lined up along the front of the roads. This achieves noise protection from heavy traffic along the outer perimeter of the building. The courtyard of the building is raised by +2.700 above the light surface of the earth, under it there is a covered parking lot for 25 cars. The yard is connected to the parking lot by an artificial relief separating pedestrian and car traffic. The entrance to the building is carried out both from the level of the parking lot and from the courtyard. A conference hall, a canteen and a transport monitoring center are designed in the building. This whole block is illuminated by the overhead light, as well as the second light from the skylight in the main hall. An electrical substation and other technical premises are attached to the building from the back.
  • Main materials used
In the external (facade) contour of the building, tinted concrete is used, which is resistant to the effects of a harmful environment, the color is gray heterogeneous.
    Yard facade – wood cladding.
Tinted glass is used for stained glass windows.
    The roof is metal.
