The project for the reconstruction of the building of the nuclear physics laboratory for the complex of the Institute of Architecture and Art of the Southern Federal University
The project was carried out as part of a competition in March 2012.
The concept of reconstruction of the building of the nuclear physics laboratory for the needs of the Institute of Architecture and Art of the Southern Federal University proposes the use of two concrete “glasses” as the basis for the construction of the cathedral tower and the hostel. To do this, it is necessary to conduct a survey of both the concrete structures themselves and the support layer (base) under them, followed by calculation and design. This work can be performed by the relevant laboratory of the Research Institute of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics of the Southern Federal University.
The construction of the towers themselves will in no way affect the integrity of the entire existing complex, since the design and construction of the laboratory took into account the differences in the sediment of the concrete cups and the rest of the building.
Both proposed buildings will be made in a metal frame, which will allow work to be carried out with a minimum restriction on the functioning of the main complex, and in all weather conditions.
The presence of two towers makes it possible to divide the complex into an educational part (which includes departments with classrooms, a library, a dean’s office, two classrooms for 150 people, a cloakroom, toilets) and a club part, which includes a hostel for 300 people, a canteen, a gym, and exhibition halls.
From the point of view of the authors, such an approach to reconstruction minimizes unproductive earthworks, and under certain conditions gives a gain in time and, thus, financial savings.
